Luigi was born in Ivrea (Piedmont) from a family of artisans and began working as an apprentice at the young age of 15. Initially he settles in Turin, where he pursues a ten-year experience in two of the best tailoring shops in the city.

Later he moves to Lombardy and starts working alongside the maestro Roccato Sante in Atelier Monti, a tailor's shop with 50 years of history behind it.  In 2018 he takes over the business and starts his own experience.

In 2019 he is interviewed by Arbiter magazine as one of the most promising tailors in the country under the age of 30 and in 2021 he receives the award for the best interpretation of Loro Piana fabric at the Arbiter Milano su Misura event.

Luigi provides jobs to young talents and apprentices, with the aim of forming the new tailors of the future. Atelier Monti's vision is based on classic canons, but with a modern approach always focused on the specific needs of the customer.

In 2023, the sartoria opens its atelier in the heart of Milan, via Massena 4, changing its name to Sartoria Montanaro.
